“What are you doing?” Wise asked Liam, seeing as he was trying to connect a FaceTime call.

“Lanee wanted to be here, but I didn’t know how you’d react, so I’m trying to reach her on FaceTime.” Liam had gotten his daughter a cell two days prior. She knew more about the iPhone than he did, and she had never had one.

Before Wise could respond, Lanee’s face popped up on the screen. She was the splitting image of Wise. Her two bottom teeth were missing, and her curls were all over her head. They were brown in color, given her a golden finish. Wise’s heart melted as she watched out of the corner of her eyes. She didn’t want to seem too suspicion.

“You there, baby?” Liam asked.

“Yeah dad.”

“We’re ready doc!” Liam turned the camera to face Wise while he looked on. Wise could no longer see Lanee’s face, because the back camera had been turned on.

The doctor continued circling the wand around Wise’s stomach until she lit up with joy. “Well dad, it seems as if your prediction was correct.”

“How so?” Wise questioned.

“You’re having a boy.” She confirmed. “There’s his private…”

“Aye. Aye. Aye.” Liam moved the camera, drowning out the doctor’s words, being that his seven-year-old was on the phone.

Looking on the screen, Liam nodded. That was his boy. His little penis was sticking straight in the air. He was definitely a Regal. Wise was in tears as she watched her baby boy move around. She couldn’t believe that he was in her stomach, and growing so beautifully. Leaning down, Liam kissed her lips, “I told you.”

“Ew daddy. Hey Wise.” Lanee waved, catching Wise off guard.

The brief moment of silence caused Liam to tense up. He’d be on the fence about even trying with Wise if she couldn’t except his daughter. He wasn’t asking for her to do so overnight, because he knew that it was difficult. However, he at least needed her to acknowledge that she was here.

“Hey pretty girl,” Wise stared at Liam as she spoke, only taking her eyes off of him for a brief second.

“You’re pretty, too.”

“Thank you,” Wise smiled into the camera.

“I’m going to let you go, Lanee.” Liam turned the camera to face him.

“Okay. Don’t forget what I said.”

“What did you say?”

“Kiss my brother for me.” she put her hand over her mouth and whispered.

“Okay.” Liam did the same before disconnecting the call.

Wise was getting cleaned off. Afterwards, they stopped at the counter to schedule her next appointment. She was absent of words as they walked to Liam’s car and got inside. She could sense that he wanted to talk, but right now was not the time. It truly saddened her that she thought she’d be the first baring his child, and finding out differently burned her soul. It wasn’t nothing she could do to change the circumstances, but the facts didn’t help her to accept them any faster than she was.
